Don’t fret if you have missed the summer season of Santa Catalina entertainment. Truth be told, most of the exciting events are in the fall season. Why so? Maybe summer is just too fun a time to be spending in doors. Why not sample the water, the land and the rugged mountains when you have some time off? When the fall season starts again, there will be plenty to do.
September brings the
Annual Festival of Art, in which local artists line up on Crescent Avenue to
display their works and sell to the public. Here you can find plenty of art,
sculpture, crafts and photography.
Also playing in September is an Evening in the Garden, an
event held in the Wrigley
Garden that provides lots of food, art and music, as well as a live auction.
The Catalina Island Women’s Forum Wine Festival annual fundraiser concludes September. Here you can fine samples from over 50 wineries, as well as appetizers and jazz music.
October brings us Catalina
Island JazzTrax. This is a three-weekend event that offers jazz music.
They play at the ranch as well as the Casino Ballroom. The Catalina Island
Festival of World Music follows the same month and brings a host of new and
established song artists. The Annual Halloween Parade is the ghouliest time of
year, as everyone gets dolled up in costume and walks in a parade down Crescent
Avenue. At the end of the month, there is another Halloween event, this one a
karaoke party with 20,000 songs of your choice. There is also a full size bar
on hand and dinner entrees.
November closes the season out with the Catalina Island
Triathlon and the Catalina Island Museum Telethon. Perhaps the most interesting
event of all is the Catalina Jazz Dance Festival, which recreates the era of
swing in the casino ballroom. Come see us this autumn and celebrate with the
community! |
