A noted and special annual event on Santa Catalina Island is to clean up the underwater Harbor. This special community event allows divers to go and gather trash underwater. Last year, it was a great success and brought in more waste than the year before.
This year the goal is to bring more and clean more of the underwater Harbor just off the beautiful coast of Santa Catalina Island. This is a great place for the community to pull together and clean the environment.
The traditional event starts on February 25th. Over the years the island has have had a lot of volunteers, and this year the volunteer group hopes for the same.
This even started over 30 years ago and continues to be a great success. Come down and become a diver and join this tradition that has been a great success. The funds do go to the Catalina Conservancy.
This is also the only time during the year when diving is allowed. People will gather over the weekend starting on Friday to prepare and get excited. Details are available at: http://www.catalinaconservancy.org/ |
