Catalina Island offers no shortage of things to tempt residents and visitors. From hiking and biking to surfing, fishing, dining and shopping, the island has a little bit of everything. Visit the Civil War Barracks

In Two Harbors, you will find an actual Civil War barracks erected by the US Army in 1864. The barracks were used again during WWII, and have even been used in a few Hollywood productions. You can visit and explore these historic barracks quite easily during a trip to the island.

Banning House Lodge

Since we're talking history, why not pay a visit to the Banning House Lodge? It was built in 1910, by the same family responsible for the Catalina Island Golf Course. You'll find that the lodge is actually a bed and breakfast now, and offers amazing views out over the harbor and the isthmus.

Ning-Po

The Ning-Po is a Chinese pirate ship, which was responsible for devastating the trade of the East India Company in the 1700s. The vessel wreaked havoc for a very long time, was captured by the British, recaptured by the Chinese and then recaptured by the British again. Today, the Ning-Po can be found on Catalina, where you can take a look at real pirate history, up close and personal.

Hit the Beach

Of course, if you're ready to unwind a bit, you will find that the beaches of Catalina Island are ideal for relaxation, recreation and more. Play some beach volleyball or just soak up the sun – it's an excellent way to relax.
