The town of Avalon on Catalina Island is extremely walkable, but the Avalon Trolley is also a great way to get around the town and take in the sights.
The trolley runs seasonally from June 15 to September 15. Its route is fixed, but the entire trip at all stops takes about an hour.
It runs Sunday to Thursday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. On these days, the end of the line is at 5 p.m. at the Cross Channel Boat Terminal. It also runs Friday to Saturday from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The end of the line on Fridays and Saturdays is the Cross Channel Boat Terminal at 9 p.m.
The pick-up times vary at each stop though.
The trolley is a good bargain, too. A one-way trip is $2. Round trip costs $4, and a day pass is only $7.
Avalon Trolley also features off-season hours from September to June on the weekends, cruise ship days, special holidays and special events. Hours during this time are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The trolley stops at many of the island’s special spots, including Wrigley Memorial & Botanical Garden, Hermit’s Gulch Campground, The Nature Center, Bird Park, The Casino and Descano Beach, among others.
