Santa Catalina Island Things To Do

Things To Do in Santa Catalina

Santa Catalina is an island with many joys. Here you can enjoy everything from sunny beaches to thrilling tours to exciting underwater adventures! What are some of the most popular things to do in the island? First off, make plans to visit the town of Two Harbors and Avalon. The term “town” is somewhat misleading though, technically correct. We’re talking about an island that is about 22 miles long total. Nevertheless, Avalon and Two Harbors are your main points of interest. There is also a rugged region of the island among the interiors.

Some of the attractions here are flora attractions, such as the Wrigley Memorial and Botanical Garden. This site alone features 38 acres of flora life as well as a monument for the pioneer William Wrigley, Jr. Lovers Cove in Avalon is one of the best places for swimming and snorkeling. There is also plenty of wave running and kayaking to be enjoyed in the Pleasure Pier area.

Some of the best walking tours in Avalon include the Whittley Walk and the Hermit Gulch Trail. Guided tours are both educational and fun. Visitors can enjoy startling views of the gardens, the rugged countryside and island wilderness where animals roam freely. There are even bison tours that bring you closer to these massive beasts than you will ever get in the mainland U.S.

The glass bottom boat tour is a fascinating glimpse under the water. You can take a fish’s perspective as you swim among small sharks, perch, kelp and all sorts of colorful aquatic life. Eco tours are possibly the only feature more amazing than touring underwater Catalina. Jeep eco-tours are like mini-safaris and bring you close to fauna and flora life in natural living conditions.

Beaches like Descano Beach, suitable for kayaking, fishing among other sports, concludes the day. Though Catalina has many nightspots, restaurants and golf courses, truly, the best draw is the natural scenery.
