Santa Catalina Island is a beautiful island respite off the coast of California that attracts tourists and residents alike. The island is just a short ferry ride that lasts about an hour or less, depending on the conditions. While some travelers may have their own water or air transportation, the most convenient way to get to the island is the Catalina Island ferry.
The ferry departs from several mainland locations in Long Beach, California and an additional launching point in San Pedro, California and Dana Point, California. From Long Beach, travelers have several options, the Long Beach Downtown or the Long Beach Queen Mary, both arrive in Avalon, as does the ferry from Dana Point.
If you are departing from San Pedro, California, there are ferry routes to both Avalon and Two Harbors.
In total, there are 30 opportunities daily to take the Catalina Express to and from the Island. The typical adult fare is $66.50 for a round trip ticket, however there are some discounts for seniors and children. If you’d like to travel in style, ask the ticket attendant about purchasing a Commodore or Captain’s Lounge upgrade ticket.
